Clarks 77/17 Hornet

Just placed an order for a Clark Custom 77/17 in 17 Hornady Hornet. Now, I'm looking for suggestions on optics for this rig. I'm a fan of higher magnification ranges 16x max range minimum. Been thinking about a Vortex Viper HS line or possibly Sightron or Leupold. Would like to keep it under $800. The gun will be used for varmint hunting (hopefully out to 4-500 yards although I realize this is pushing it for this caliber) and punching holes in paper. Thanks.

The Leupold VX3 in 4 1/2-14 or 6 1/2-20 with the varmint hunter reticle should do what want. I have both on different rifles and they are really excellent varmint scopes.

SWFA has a "Samples" page for scopes, I've found good deals and the scopes in excellent condition. Natchez has refurbished scopes at good prices too, lots of Nikon.
