BBC news circular runway.
This is one of the strangest idea’s I ever heard. But for area’s with a lot of cross wind it sounds like this could be safer. Beyond that I’m trying to image the traffic patterns/ traffic control for busier airports.
What are the landing clearances like? It would not be like “cleared to land on runway 275R”. I guess if you could make it clear to always turn Right then given a heading you “should” land on the correct side of the circle.

I thought traffic circles were just for road intersections.

I had a old friend who set a aeronca chief down on a high school track many years ago. He said it was more touchy getting out after he fixed his problem. His wife took a bus home and he said he took out some tree top branches getting out. I did read a old article like 60 years ago in a popular mechanic magazine where some fool had a cub, hooked to a tether with a release so he could take off from racing around a pole set in his back yard or whatever.
Edited: Gee I just read the old link and seen I told the same story. At least I didn't change it.
They would have to build a tunnel under the runway for all the service traffic etc. It's not practical.
