Cinarron arms 41 Colt

I see this gun advertised in the Rifleman and according to one of the reviews, it requires a heeled bullet.

Do any of you guys here know the accrual groove diameter of this gun from Cimarron Arms called the "lightning" and chambered for the 41 Colt?

I might be interested in it if the proper bullets and dies are readily available,8)

Although Cimarron does not yet list their 41 LC bore and groove diameters, I'd bet you dollars to doughnuts that they are using their 38-40 barrels with the specs listed, .394" bore/.400" groove. That's why they are specifying the heeled bullet for their 41LC SAs.

But as Harry Owen showed in his bullet chart at the link Patrick posted above, you will get similar good accuracy using the later .386" hollow base bullets with Cimarron's tight .400" groove diameter. Also see Harry's comments about slugging his 38-40 Cimarron just above the photo of the Birdshead Model P Jr.

I do in my 1900 vintage Colt SAA with the .406"-.407" bore. Plus the non-heeled .386" hollow base bullets are easier to reload!

I have 5 41 long colts: A SAA, two Bisley's, a Thunderer and an Army Special. I use the hollow-based. Not only easier to reload but easier to find and cheaper than the heeled. Took a while to get brass (had to wait for an "annual run") and a little searching to get brass. It is one of my favorite calibers.

I shoot a 3rd Gen Colt SAA in 38-40, with a secondary 41 Colt cylinder.
I prefer the hollow based bullets...easier to reload, then the heel type.
