Today, we received in the mail, a Montgomery Ward catalog. Haven't seen one in many many years. I remember, as a kid, waiting for their catalog to come out so I could see what I could wish for.
Years later my mom was the credit manager for the Annapolis MD store and I worked for them as a bill collector.

Shades of the past ! I lived in Vermont 1956-1959, remember going to the Montgomery Wards store in Albany.

I remember the monkey wards catalogue in the outhouse, back in the early 60s.

Probably a Chinese company now. They have bought up old American company names to stick on their products. Think Zenith, Sylvania etc.

I believe a Swiss company bought it some years ago.

I'm sure my parents hated to see that catalog arrive. Two months of "I want this" a dozen times a day. I didn't get much in the way of toys and such back then--mostly clothes or something like that. I did get a new saddle one year which was the high point in my life for a long time.
It's way different now. I have no idea what my Grandkids want. I think older Grandson has a post on social media for his wants--a sign of the times.

When I was a kid, I loved taking the old Sears catalogs out back and seeing how many pages a .22LR bullet would penetrate before coming to a stop. Would have likely gone straight through the Christmas catalog, but hey, that would have been sacrilege!
