Canon MX922 printer

I've had the printer listed above for probably around 5 years now. I went to use it the other day and it popped up a message "The type of print head is incorrect. Install the correct print head". That's kind of funny because it's the same print head that came in the printer 5 years ago. I also installed 5 new ink cartridges.

Well, I purchased a new print head from Amazon and installed it. The same error message popped up. Anyone been through something like this. I'm kind of limited when buying a new printer because I want one with a FAX and scanner in it. Not too many have the fax. Although I think I may have used the fax maybe 3 times in the 5 years, but it's nice to have it.

It came up with that error code when the old cartridges were still in it.

Update the driver, it will work or not.
I've been told, yes I know, that printers have a specific life time built into their internal software.... they all will die eventually no matter what you do. 5 years for a printer is by todays standards a long time. And who needs a fax?

Check your software for a reset to factory option. It removes any settings you have put it. Also, try replacing the ink cartridges with new Canon ones, not another brand.

I've never heard that and am skeptical... Mom has a 10 year old printer that works fine

I have a new Epson ink tank (print, copy, scan, fax) printer on the way from Amazon. I'm done with Canon. That 1403 code is in too many posts for me.

My Canon MG5400 printer gave me the same message this past weekend. I turned the power off and back on and it went away.

I leave my printer on all the time. It's never off unless the power goes off. The most problems I've had with printers is when I turn them off then days or months later I try to turn them on and they screw up. I've had my Canon for more than 5 years and this is the first time I've gotten any kind of trouble message.

That error message is slowly creeping up on you. My printer was a little over 5 years old also. It's now in my dumpster waiting for pickup. I've got a feeling you're going to see that error message again. Good Luck.
