Just starting out with reloading ammunition. So I have been picking us a few things when I can find and afford them.
I recently acquired a 3 die set of 44 mag dies made by Bystrom.
They look brand new. No rust, crossed threads, etc...

The Expander/De Cap die has one issue.
The de cap pin falls out when installed in my Lee Press.
The pin looks fine. Not broken on either end. Both ends are machined.
There is a screw on cap that looks like it should hold the pin in but you can slide the pin in or out with ease
when the cap is tightened. Should there be a collar under the cap like a pressure fitting?

I know Bystrom is no longer made. Would another company have something that would work?

I would post pictures but cant get a decent photo with the detail needed. My old camera just can't focus that close up any more.

Are you sure it is the camera? A lot of us can't see well enough to take pictures. I am not familiar with the Bystrom dies. Someone should show up shortly with an answer. Welcome to the forum. I reload .44 spcl and mag on a Lee press with Lee dies. Good luck.

The new RCBS de-capping pins (the ones that are being used in their newest dies) might fit the bill. Where the old ones were just a straight shaft that slid into a collet on the expander shaft, the new ones have a collar machined on one end (like you described). For a .44, I expect you would need the "large" size. Mine measured .072" diameter. Your reloading supplier might have some, I just ordered some from Midsouth. Hope this helps.
