busy day ahead

Son has a conference call 7-9AM followed by a trip to town to drop off soybean tissue samples and pick up dog food. I have morning chores to do followed by employee supervision stuff for an hour. Then I'm off to the hayfield to finish a few windrows so they can dry a bit.
When Son makes it here, we fill the sprayer and depending on time, he starts spraying. We have a buyer coming to look at our old combine after noon so may have to postpone spraying and baling until after that's done.
It's a beehive of activity around here most days it's not raining. My gitty up wains severely in this heat and I can't keep up much after 5-6PM. It's 8 days short of a year since my hip replacement and that continues to be a debilitating problem. Personally, I would NEVER recommend that route.

I know the feeling , waiting for my truck to get in so i can get going , 600+ miles to go today along with at least one drop and hook and one fuel stop but it will be alot easier than your day

Busy days,,, I know them all too well.
Today is a trip to (2) different houses to pick up traps,, which by itself would require almost 2 hours of driving round trip. But, I get to add in a trip, in the opposite direction that will take at least 4 hours, of driving & setting traps. Throw in another job where I'll be meeting a customer to look at the house about bats. A lot of my job requires a lot of road time,, as I service an area of about 75 miles in any direction away from my house. And today is a "lighter" day as the rains will be keeping me off ladders & such.
I'll likely be able to be home today by 6 pm.
Yesterday,, a bit different,, and I didn't get in until about 7:30 pm.

Always a lot to do,, and never enough time.

Today I will do nothing. Its hard work because you never get finished!
Serious I get to do nothing because others bust their humps.

Work makes me high! My butt is sore from so much sitting. I have been retired over 20 years. However when I retired if you go by a 40 hour work week I worked longer than I was old as I averaged a 65 hour week. Usual a couple months without a day off. Couldn't have done it if it was a hard job like roofing. My job was like the cartoons you see of a fat old night watchman. In fact, that`s what it was. Sarge my feet hurt.
I do know what a hip replacement is. I have been laid up about the last two years because of it. Fell and broke it. Was just getting on my feet, fell and cracked it again. Fell again and broke my right "shooting hand" in three places protecting my face.
Wife aggravates me by watching the hallmark and those fixer up channels. Life is hard in the fast lane. Against wife's advice and wishes I took my RZR out riding by myself day before yesterday. For the first time in two years. It was hot and it probably was dumb of me riding in the boonies by myself as I would be in deep bandini if something happened as I wouldn't be able to walk out. Get your licks in while your able!

Not today.... (July 8th)..... Just as I was rousing I heard the patter on the roof begin.... Now at 6:30am it is a down pour... Normally we don't get heavy rain here.. Not like down south... more like that typical PNW rain...
But now by golly she is a comin down!!!
We need it, badly but I will have to make up the rain day, and try and find a good plan B for today as it is NOT a good day to go out and play Paul Bunyan..... :lol:

I have some pioneering tools I'm rehabbing. I can start painting those... Then I'll wing it.......

Going to be a tough day here as well.
Been up since 5:30AM...ran the Labs and made breakfast.
Going to get started here shortly on a little gun shop tour. Probably stop for lunch at some point.
Later I will probably put in a couple of hours hard at work in the reloading room.
Retirement is tough work but somebody has to do it.

I’m gonna be busy checking my eyelids for pinholes here in a few minutes. It has to be done and I’m the only one qualified to do it. You guys carry on without me.

All the boxes checked by just after 5PM. Wish I'd have mowed more hay Monday since it didn't shower like the weather guessers suggested it might. I'm approaching 1/2 done but will lose a couple to the rain forecast to hit here tomorrow.

Another one yesterday. Began early with goat sort, health vaccinations, and weaning the "billy kids". Followed that with finishing mowing one hay field. Son showed up again about the time I finished lunch and started mowing another field while Grandson and I re-assembled a combine drive sheave and assorted parts. Finished that just as Son was coming back from mowing. Took a short break and started the re-assembly of parts onto combine. That and some other maintenance chores took the rest of the afternoon and we called it quits about 7PM. I was beat but made a lot of checkmarks on the "to do" list.
I need to go to town for parts and supplies but those places aren't open on Sunday. Guess it's crack of dawn Monday and back home ASAP.
