Unchartered territory. Met Rutan many years ago when a friend was building one of his kit planes. Hard to describe him. He was intense and focused on one thing but able to switch and do a couple other things for a few seconds then back to his main focus.
We know one of the guys hurt in the explosion. His best friend was one of those killed.
I never met Burt, but his brother Dick was at the Tullahoma, Tn. EAA flyin in the late 70’s. I was a fan of the Varieze. Burt Rutan really made composite building a viable alternative to Dacron and dope!
