buffing out stainless steel

I have a Thompson Center Encore rifle with a muzzleloader barrel. Im guessing from the powder there was some very slight rust speckles showing up on the frame. I used some steel wool and oil to get them out and it worked. However, it left some small scratches. Can someone tell me the proper way to get these out. Thanks, Jeff

Try a scotch brite pad. A used one from the kitchen will work with some metal polish. I use mothers but others work just as well. You can get them at the hardware store in grits from course to fine, green to white.
Nice thing about stainless, you can bugger it up and make it new again as easy as cleaning it.

Scothcbright is a good idea - I've also used "SIMICHROME POLISH" - Midway or your local shop, a 1.76 oz tube is about $9.00. It's a polishing paste you use with a cotton cloth. I've used on all my SS pistols and was very pleased with it as a final polish.

Put a buffing wheel on you grinder with some S/S rouge and buff it all off fast easy and won't harm your gun, it will also close the pours in the steel keeping it from rusting again.

Flitz metal polish is my personal favorite for stainless.
