It's a bolt buffer which is a pin not a bolt. It's at the back of the receiver and is what the bolt contacts on the way back during ejection.
I use a smaller diameter stainless steel pin that has a Delrin layer then a rubber layer.
FWIW, removal of the bolt is NOT REQUIRED for replacement of the 'bolt stop'.
Yeah. Leave it alone, quit reading the internet, and just shoot it.I'm new to Ruger and have just purchased my first 10/22. I'm trying to remove the buffer bolt and replace it with a synthetic bolt. I am unable to knock out the bolt. Any suggestions?
Thanks
