I’m new to Ruger and have just purchased my first 10/22. I’m trying to remove the buffer bolt and replace it with a synthetic bolt. I am unable to knock out the bolt. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Maybe it's just me, but I can't find any mention or illustration of a "buffer" or "buffer bolt" in the 10/22 user manual. Will somebody enlighten me, please?

It's a bolt buffer which is a pin not a bolt. It's at the back of the receiver and is what the bolt contacts on the way back during ejection.

I use a smaller diameter stainless steel pin that has a Delrin layer then a rubber layer.

Thanks. Ruger calls that the "bolt stop pin". Item 46 in the parts illustration. I really wish folks would use proper nomenclature. It would avoid much confusion.

Yeah. Leave it alone, quit reading the internet, and just shoot it.
