I'm looking into putting a "holo" or "reflex" style red dot on my plinking 10/22. I've found these 2 on Amazon and I'm just curious if anyone has any experience with either of these brands. Don't tell me to go buy a $300 sight, because that's not what I want, nor can I afford one at the moment. They seem to be almost identical, and the reviews are about the same for each. I just want something to play around with at 25-50yds on steel plates and pop cans.

BSA puts out a descent red Dot, matter of fact the replacement they sent me(not there fault, was mine) was a BSA Huntsman RD20RGB Red Green and Blue Dot, lifetime warranty if you dont mimd waiting 3-4 weeks

I had a cheap one on a MKII (dont remember which brand). It was fine as long as I didn't switch reticles. It had dot, circle w/ dot, crosshairs, and a few others. I would have to sight it in every time I switched to different one. Other wise it was fine.
If you are looking at going back and forth between the various reticles be warned. If you plan on leaving it on one particular setting they work well.

I have these two different ones mounted on Rugers:

The AIM RT4-02 one I have to be very careful when adjusting the reticle as the supplied allen wrench tends to round out on the end of it. It also has a lock down screw that locks in your setting. Reticle(dot, crosshair, circle with crosshairs outside of circle, and circle with center dot) are clear and crisp and have no shift in POA/POI when switching between them @ 50feet. Mine has an auto brightness setting that works pretty good.
The Bushnell TRS-25 is a red dot only & has a very slight starburst effect with the dot while using my glasses, my buddy who doesn't wear glasses doesn't see this effect. No shifting of the reticle in this one either. Both were under $100.
Also have an old 1" tube Ultradot that was very crisp dot but the switch finally went bad after 30 years.
Had an old 1" tube cheap Tasco red dot, very nice dot in it, on a 10/22 I gave to a buddy so he can teach his gandson to shoot.
Hope this helps

I picked up a Simmons 30mm red-dot from Dick's Sporting Goods several years ago for around $40 that has been working great ever since.
Originally it was on a paintball gun, moved it to a pellet gun, shot it on some .22s for a while, and right now it sits on a shelf since I've got nothing I really want to put it on at the moment. Only thing I have that I have right now that I can put it on is a Marlin 39A and that just ain't happening.

If I remember correctly it's a 3MOA dot, 11 intensities, and 1/4 MOA clicks on the adjustment turrets.
Best thing is that the rail mount adjusts and reverses to fit weaver/pic/dovetail.

BSA makes a decent cheap red-dot as well.

AIM-Sports makes OK stuff. I work at a Mil-Surp and paintball shop and we carry AIM optics. Nothing extra special, but nothing really crappy either; you can pay more and get better, and you can pay less and get far worse. The only times we really have problems with anything is user error or abuse (dropped, shot by paintballs, etc). I wouldn't trust the adjustments to be too precise on a lot of the stuff, but if you are plinking 25 yards they'll work just fine.
I'd be weary of the multiple-reticle reflex sight and buy it local if possible, we had a few of them that the actual displayed reticule was canted, and since the alignment mechanism is machined into the selector you can't correct it.
Not like it's a huge deal, but it was something we noticed.
That being said over time we can see the company making constant improvements on their designs and quality, so I think they are headed in the right direction and they have a lifetime warranty...

I actually run an AIM tac-light on my .45, and it seems to be holding up well after 100 rounds. Only issue was that the bezel loosened and relaxed contact of the bulb to the head, but I snugged it up and put an o-ring under it to put some extra tension. Haven't gone back to the range with it yet but I'm sure it will hold up just fine.
It was priced to sell for $50, with my discount it was considerably less, so I figured it was worth a shot before dropping over $100 on a better known company's light. So far so good.

Here is their website.

For some reason Midway sends me their big catalog once a year.... they will have two or more pages of all the red dots they offer.... what I realized is just about all of these must be made by at the most two factories in China. The factories just change the color and put a different name on them.

I have one of those reflex sights with a SightMark label on it (they are all pretty much the same). It works fine at the indoor range but fades out in direct sunlight.

You might consider a tube style optic. Bushnell TRS-25 or Primary Arms MicroDot are quite popular. I have two Primary Arms MicroDot. They work well on pistols and long guns.

I purchased two very inexpensive NcSTAR holosights at a gun show. I put one on a mrlin Papoose and the other (after contacting their customer service and getting the OK) on my Webly Vulcan .22 air rifle. Both have worked well.
