Got a seller who has a Security six just like I've been looking for, catch is it's broken, he says the cylinder won't lock into place anymore. I'm thinking probably a spring? Obviously going to send it to Ruger, what is their turnaround time on fixing a gun? What is the process? Does it need to ship through a dealer or can I ship it directly to them and they can return it directly to me?

Buy it as a broken gun, ship it to Ruger,, expect around 1-3 weeks for it to return. Using a dealer to ship it is a bit easier. Especially if the dealer uses the USPS!

This is one of the easiest revolvers to work on that I have ever owned. Get disassembly instructions online, and you can probably find and replace whatever is broken yourself. If you're in my area, buy it and bring it over.

I wholeheartedly agree with toysoldier, the Six series guns are not that difficult to work on (look at the internals on a Colt Diamondback or Python some time :shock: ). The best manual to get, if you are going to do your own work, is Jerry Kuhnhausens book on the Ruger Double Actions. You can find it a Brownells and MidwayUSA (and probably other places too). It tells you everything you need to know.
Be advised though, parts for the Six series are geting scarce (that said, the Six series are really becoming popular as of late, people are rediscovering how good they are). Ruger has very few parts and Numrich has a lot but not always the most frequently replaced parts. Jack First is another source of parts.
