Broken palm safety

I have had my new ruger sr1911 for a few months, and I love it. It is remarkably accurate, and a great shooter. While shooting today, I noticed the palm safety is cracked across vertically. Anyone with a similar problem? This is my first Ruger in a while, how are they about service?? I was not very excited when I looked up their warranty in the book, because it stated that there was no warranty, however thay would still provide service. Anybody had their SR1911 serviced? Any problems?? I love this gun, I hope that Ruger will stand behind them.

Call Ruger service in Prescott. They will send you a return label and fix it. There service is outstanding. You will probably end up with a free mag for your troubles.

Great! I really love this gun, and I was really concerned about this. Do you think this is isolated and normal given the numbers of these guns out there, or should I be concerned?

This is the first I've heard of this issue with SR1911's. Ruger will take care of you.

I assume you are talking about the grip Safety. If it's cracked it must be made of something other than metal. Hard to image a steel one cracking. I know there are other companies using plastic in this area.

If it's metal .... it's probably MIM metal ..... same stuff camshafts are made of .... LOL

Funny how I've never had one failure of any kind with any of my old Colts ... none of which has any MIM parts.

They'll fix you up no problem though. Ruger has very good CS.

Almost all of the major manufacturers are cheapening their guns these days ... and it shows.

Not so hard to imagine if the pistol were dropped.

My Dan Wesson has a plastic MSH and it fell from the top shelf of the safe a few weeks ago and broke. I decided to upgrade everything with EGW parts.

Even the anointed Colts have plastic and MIM parts on them (and have for 20 years).

Mine don't ..... have any plastic at least. I don't really mind MIM if it doesn't break.

i have never seen it happen in 40 years but anything can happen once.
