Brass cartridge cases.........???

Who makes their own cartridge cases nowadays? I've read where Starline supplies most of the ammunition companies with their cases.

From what I've read, Winchester, and Hornady make their own brass, everybody else buys from Starline. Fact, or not?

I wonder 'bout Winchester and Hornady.

A few years ago, I bought a bag of new Winchester .45-70 brass at Cabela's. In the bag were four or five cases marked "Hornady"....

The Olin brass plant is just a few miles from here. They make Winchester's cartridges and afaik the ammo, too.

Can't speak for the full range of ammo, but my cousin (before he retired) worked for Federal in Anoka, Minnesota..... he made 9mm and .40 S&W cases by the millions.

Well, thank you so much for that! They show .44 S&W Special. And not too far from Remington's plant at Lonoke, Ark.

I'm somewhat surprised I've never heard of SigSauer ammunition!

Now that contradicts all I've heard, as I've heard Starline made Federal brass!

Hi,

It would not surprise me if the various big ammo companies have some sort of cooperative agreements on the common military calibers, esp. 5.56 and 9mm, so they can keep the lines moving under any conditions. Civilian ammo? Don't have a clue.
