Boy needs some education

( I don't know how he did it)
Sometimes they lose control of their appetite and eat so much they can't fly. Once in Texas I was driving down a 2 lane highway and on my right there in the shade were a bunch of buzzards eating something. I didn't see them until I was right next to them. One of them hit my windshield because his wings didn't have enough lift to carry his full stomach. He was beating his wings like crazy and not gaining any speed. I looked in the rear view mirror and it was an explosion of feathers.
Deer sometimes eat crab apples at my neighbors farm and their bellies get so overloaded they just lie down. You can walk right past them and they just look at you.

The kid probably was itching like crazy after he picked up that buzzard, they're loaded with fleas and other parasites that leave the bodies of road kill.
I usually catch one skunk a year in my live trap and after shooting it I leave it a half mile down my driveway at a bend I call "skunk point". The buzzards have it completely clean in a day or two, but they leave the scent gland so the smell lingers sometimes for months. I think they're poorly served by not eating the scent gland, if they did, all those parasites would probably drop off.

In the words of a former Hungarian coworker.... Look! Look! A Turkey Eagle!!!
Janos definitely had a way with words and mangled the English language regularly.

Got derided years back when I was a student radical and I published in the school paper that there was no difference between road kill meat and that you buy in the store with a picture of a Turkey buzzard pulling on the leg of some dead animal on the side of the road. (This was during my vegetarian years and I was qualified because I was a terrible hunter... could never learn to lead the doves.. )

Oh my God, I can't believe the kid picked that up. When I was a kid on the farm I used to lay on my back out in the yard with a .22 Winchester model 67 rifle and take pot shots at them circling overhead. I would make them flinch but never killed one. Dad warned me, if you ever kill one you're gonna haul it off and you aren't gonna like it.

We have a lot of turkey buzzards around my place. When I catch and dispatch ground hogs and other vermin trying to get into my out buildings, I'd throw the bodies up into the vacant field behind my place for the buzzards to eat.

One day, my daughter was visiting and we were coming back from doing some shopping and she saw the group of them up in the field (I have heard that when they are grouped and eating they are called a "wake" ) and asked what those were. I told her they were turkey buzzards and were probably feeding on a couple dead ground hogs I threw there. So smarta$$ that she is, she gets on Facebok and announces that she knows where dad puts the dead bodies. And she never added any other explanation. I wonder how many are now wondering about me :D
