bought some .22 rounds today!

Yes! First Wal-Mart today had .22 in stock. 6 boxes actually so I didn't feel bad about buying thr three box maximum. No questions asked about rifle or handgun.

But then at Cabelas this afternoon, the cashier wanted my birthday. I asked why and she said for the ammo. I told her I'm over 21. She said "it won't be truthful" I told her, I wouldn't be honest anyway so what difference does it make?

I am more than a little bit jaded. We are on our 4th credit card due to theft since last fall. I've posted about this before. The last time was last weekend, I just got the new credit card in the mail yesterday and wanted to try it out.

Anyway, my name and my credit card number and now they want my birthday? No way! Someone here recommended taking a magnet to my driver's license, which I did right away.

I'm just happy to have some more .22 ammo.

Good job on the .22 score! I have found .22 OTC exactly 1 time since 2012. I don't even bother to look anymore. The Walmart here in Casa Grande gets it in, but it always arrives with a truck load of buyers. (One of which is a LGS who keeps it under his counter for 75 bucks a brick) Gun Shows always have it in abundance, but again they're scalping. Pretty much has shut down my .22 gun buying!

WalMart here had 4 boxes on display a couple of days ago and I was going to buy a couple of boxes. The guy working there is a friend and he advised they were only 750 fps and wouldn't cycle my SR22 so I passed on them. He then unlocked the cabinet under the display case and pulled out a box of 325 rounds. $16.xx so I bought them. First 22 long rifle I've seen there in ages. I did get 6 boxes of 22 Mag ammo there a short time ago.

75 a brick! Thieves! I paid 15 for the Winchester 333 boxes at Walmart and at Cabelas I paid $26 for 400 rounds of American Eagle (38 grain) normally the .22 has 40 grains per bullet right?

So let's see, they saved 2 grains per bullet for 400 per box or 800 grains saved per box. At 7k grains per pound (please correct me if I'm wrong.) They ended up saving a lot. Plus higher costs....less from them and more from me.

Salover? Were the 750 ft/sec the .22 shot shell? I've seen those there at Walmart in the past couple months. I've passed on them as well. Glad you have friends working there though. Nice benefit!

Walmart had about 2 dozen boxes of stingers the other day. $6 a box. I got two.

Kevin: If you need more .22 ammo just go to Midway USA. Login and search .22 ammo.. Click the ammo you are interested in and they will email you when it is available. I have had zero problems getting .22lr. None. There is no supercharge for it. I shoot a lot of .22lr and wmr and it is available for regular price. You just need to get on the list.

Wow, made my day. Monday, I opened an ammo can containing 5000 rounds and took out 100(2 boxes) that I'd paid $.90 a box for. I need to leave the computer so I can pat myself on the back. Thanks

I can't even remember the last time I saw 22LR on the shelves, but honestly I don't look that often. Before the current shortage crisis which started several years ago, I had built up a reasonable stock of ammo, and in recent years have probably only used about half of that amount. I guess I still have about 3,000 rounds in the cabinet, and since I only shoot 22's about once every other month, and only about 100 to 200 rounds at a time, I think I am good for another couple of years. By then I am counting on ammo being readily available once a new President is in office, and is one who supports gun rights.

My LGS always has .22 ammo. I never go to Cabela's, Bass Pro or WalMart and expect to find any.

No longer a real shortage of it around here. I am in upstate SC. You can find it fairly easy at our local gunshops.

The local hardware store has had 22LR for a few months at $56 a brick. Every time I go in there the shelf is full...doesn't look like they are selling much at that price. The local WM is always sold out...seems the "breakfast club" is alive and well. The only stuff that WM has is subsonic which does not cycle most semi-autos.

Contender, it's a but of a drive but the Cabelas in Allen Texas had American Eagle for $26 for a box of 400. Kind of expensive well more of the "new normal"

The Winchester I bought at Wal Mart was the box of 333. Those were $15.

If I find some over the summer, I will be happy to bring any extra to the Fall meet and resell if for what I paid. But no promises on finding any more.
