Bought some 22 ammo

Managed to find a brick of Rem. Thunderbolts but I had to pay $45 plus tax.
All so 100rds. of Fed. gold medal target 40gr. & 100rds. of Aquila Super Colibri 20gr. that cost a 20 dollar bill. But I saw them & had to have.
The Aquila's are only 500fps & no noise, so I've read. Gonna shoot some tommorow.

Yea that is pretty steep. But what are you suppose to do.
I believe the quantity will come back but the price won't.

The problem with prices ever coming back to normal is the little fact that people have shown they will pay a ridiculous price for them when there was no real need to freak out about it in the first place.

I , and many others , know enough to plan ahead and to keep a modest supply on hand and did not feel the need to pay these stupid prices.

The big problem I have with the whole deal is that when stock is resupplied , when I would like to go out and buy more , the prices will more than likely be jacked up because of this little "panic" that in my opinion was over nothing.

So even though I have not had to pay these stupid prices and did not participate in the panic , I will still get drug into it and pay the higher price in the future because of the "sky is falling" crowd.

When all these idiots stop hoarding and buying everything prices will come down.
The majority out there are people like me, or at least I sure hope so.
I will not buy any ammo until the supplies are back to normal and the prices start to come back down.
I do not have to shoot. I will not be ripped off by anyone just so I can.
I won't go into seizures if I don't.

I have stopped shooting and stopped buying. Did that late last year.
I have 9500 rounds of the calibers I shoot all made and stored away.
My reloading equip. is cleaned, checked and covered.
My guns are cleaned and in the safe.
I will not shoot one round until I can replace what I shoot and at a normal price.
I am not going to act like a heroine addict in withdrawals because I can't shoot.
I have a life and it involves many things I enjoy other than shooting.
It is time I spent more effort to enjoy those.

I would hate to see what would happen if a shortage of McDonald's cheeseburgers occurred.
People would be lined up at 6am waiting in line and paying $10 a burger, 2 dozen at a time and bragging about it.
People with no hamburgers would feel left out, cheated and upset by the prices.
Pretty soon it would be cats living with dogs and then where would we be?
Maybe McDonald's would make hamburgers out of them. Ahhh, the circle of life. :mrgreen:

First I don't consider myself to be a hoarder. With the 22's I bought today, I probably have about 3500rds. So your 9500 trumps my 3500.
And as far as prices coming down I just don't see it happening.
Once the price of anything goes up it usually never goes back down.
And just to say once I find some more bricks I'm gonna buy them.
I'd like to get my hoarding pile up to at least 5000, before the price goes up.

I don't consider Remington T-bolts (the crappiest .22 ammo you can buy, IMHO) to be worth $4.50 a brick, much less $45. :?

BE PATIENT !! Supply is comming back ..... I really have not been shopping for ammo, I have a pretty good supply. Over the last 3 days while shopping for a new scope, At Dick's, Accadmy, and Bass Pro, All 3 have had 22 ammo, Maybe I just got lucky ? I picked up CCI Mini Mags today for 7.99 per 100 and a 525 Federal value pack for 24.00 .....

Just for edification, those 9500 rounds are what I have reloaded. I don't strip the local LGS of any ammo.
I have always kept on hand 5000 to 10,000 rounds. I shoot a few hundred, I reload a few hundred.
Sometimes the number goes way down, sometimes not.
When all this idiocy hit the fan and bullets, primers and powder became an endangered species with high prices I quit.
I will not play that game. Sell me what I want at fair prices or take a hike.

Now, tell me what I won. Is it blue? Yeah, I bet it is blue. I like blue ones. :mrgreen:

Gouging right is not happening at the manufacturer level nor is it happening at the major brick and mortar nationally recognized store level. Small time dealers, online dealers, and individual people who have stock piles of ammo are the ones capitalizing on the current situation. Remington, Winchester and others are not the culprits nor are they the ones selling 500 rounds for $150 or more.

Right now we are our own worst enemy and when we quit paying outrageous prices stockpilers will quit selling and supplies will return to the stores who would sell us ammo at a fair price if they could only get it.

I'm a little tired of the high horse people that say they knew only because they've been around longer. I'm OK because I pay attention but for some reason some people seem to get joy watching and reading and listening to others work really hard to get stuff that is not readily available right now. Seems to me most of us should be on the same team. Sorry for sounding flaky. I have no problem with supply and demand pricing but I would prefer those that say they knew what was coming not be "mean" to those that now are new are in the "hobby" or do not or have not stashed up to the nines. We hear people complaining about hoarding then the some of the same people did exactly that merely months ago because they say they knew. What's the difference? Poke fun if y'all want. Someone still thinks it's a free country. Help each other may be a better way?

I saw 30-06 for $2.15 per round at the IN TOWN LGS I have mentioned for being more than expensive (before the shortages)....CCI .22 CB shorts $18.XX per 100. Sick I guess....or just trying the market. I used to think they were pretty crazy on pricing because of the really old boxes that never left.

Just got this at normal price, only a little more per brick than OP's Thunderbolts but I bet they shoot a whole lot better. :wink: Ammo is out there at fair prices if you look a little bit.

Bought 22LR at Outdoor Emporium in Seattle for $2.18 for 40rounds of American Eagle today. Seems reasonable to me.

5 box limit for members/ 2 box for non-members.

I'm not the only RF member who has commented publicly about the low quality and general crappiness of Remington Thunderbolt ammo. The stuff's dirty, not especially accurate, won't operate many autoloaders reliably, and has a high misfire rate. The only worse .22 ammo I've ever seen was some Argentine-made junk I bought cheap in the '80s. Scarcity and/or an insanely inflated price does not improve the quality of the Thunderbolts one bit. If that's all you can get and you need ammo, then the situation is what it is but I'd hate to see anyone "stock up" (i.e., 5000 rounds) on this garbage at outrageous prices, as they're going to be sorry down the road (unless you can manage to sell it to someone else at a profit).

Remington's Golden Bullets are much better. They have a consistent dud rate (no primer) of one to two percent (and some lots are even higher), but the ones that DO fire are zippy and accurate and operate semiautos reliably and aren't any dirtier than any other .22 ammo. And I've shot over 20,000 rounds of Rem GBs in a variety of guns in the last few years so I know what I'm talking about. :wink:

I have two or three guns that won't run on anything BUT Rem GBs. I put up with the annoying duds because it's pretty good ammo otherwise. But I would NEVER count on Rem GBs in any defensive gun, except possibly an 8, 9, or 10 shot DA revolver.

Good price there compared to gun shows I have attended in the last month , I have shot all brands of .22 and for plinking the T.bolts always work just fine in my guns. :roll:
