A couple hours.

Not many people make wood sheaths anymore, for several reasons. One, is that nice looking figured hardwood can be difficult to find for most folks, and expensive compared to leather or kydex or whatever. And it requires a good bit of woodworking skill to make one that doesn't look like a 2x4 hanging on your belt. Both of those things tend to make them very expensive compared to a leather sheath, so not enough demand to interest very many folks. Kind of like custom gun leather in that respect. I only make them as gifts for special people.

On a side note, some States/jurisdictions prohibit concealed carry of certain kinds of knifes, which these may qualify as. :roll:

Thanks. I've made 4 (if memory serves), each with different exotic woods & embellishments. My oldest daughter has one of them.

On your side note, here in CA that fixed blade would have to be carried in plain sight on the belt in a sheath, per State law. Then, depending on the blade length, it may still be unlawful to carry in some jurisdictions. For example, in some counties one can just about carry a sword openly. At the same time, LA County allows fixed blades under 4" in some places; some places there's a shorter limit, at least in certain public areas like parks. Schools are especially sticky as to both blade length and style. Essentially, for most of us, on school property it's no fixed blades of any length, no non-locking folders with blades over 2 1/2", no locking folders of any size, just for starters. I believe there are exceptions for certain tradesmen on the job. And that's NOT a complete list.

In general (again subject to local restrictions), by State law the 110 can be carried in the pocket here--"concealed"--as long as it's folded. It can be concealed in a sheath or not, or carried open and folded in a sheath on the belt where your wooden sheath would look so much better than most of the leather I see. Blade out and locked, it must be carried in plain sight on the belt, in a sheath, just like a fixed blade. Knife laws throughout the country can sometimes make gun laws seem reasonably simple and clear!

Boy Howdy!! :lol: Even here in Ol'Miss, which is pretty lax on weaponry, we still have some senseless laws on the books about blades. :roll:

Don't wanna be a copy cat by may try that out. I like it. Is there any kinda latch on the lid? or just gravity? maybe a magnet would work! ps

Go for it. Make the inside dimension a snug fit so it compresses the blade slightly when the knife in inserted. Works best when knife is positioned point up, blade towards hinge. But not so tight that it's difficult to remove. Might have to do some cut and fit to get it right. Keeps it from rattling around.

The lid is held closed with 2 very small rare earth magnets aligned to attract in the lid and base. 1/10" x 3/8" if I recall. I buy mine from K&J Magnetics: http://www.kjmagnetics.com/

Almost forgot: There's also a wood belt loop on the back side - just glued on with Titebond II. If you prefer a spring clip, you'll need to attach it with epoxy and/or brass rivets before you assemble it.

I pretty much wear western boots most of the time. Even with a suit. A Gerber Guardian lives in my boot top.
