I know caryc likes movie mistakes,or the liberties Hollywood takes with firearms and such.
Well,I do too!.
I just recently watched a movie on Netflix "21 Safarosh" about how 21 Sikh soldiers held off 12000 Afghanistan
invaders in the late 1800's.
The Sikh soldiers were using Martini rifles, while the invaders were using flintlocks, which when they showed the close ups,had no sights, and no flints, and all they had to do was recock the flintless hammer to fire repeatedly.
So,I guess Hollywood actually does pretty good! :D

Hollywood (and most other forms of entertainment) usually are not about the "props". So whether they are functional or just some piece of wood or plastic that bears little resemblance to the "real thing", is irrelevant to the actual plot line, which is nearly always about people and their interaction with each other or nature. This goes back to ancient times in every culture. Nobody cared about the lions in the Roman Coliseum. They only cared how the the people on the field lived or died. Pretty much the same now.

Not a Sikh but a Gurkha.

Reads kind of like this one about Bishnu Shrestha, not during war but in peacetime:

40 bandits, 1 Gurkha. He killed 3, wounded 8 and set the rest to flight!

Watched The Sands of Iwo Jima last week and noticed several guys were carrying M1 Carbines with long 30 round magazines and I kind of wondered about that.

Was likely the M2 Carbine, (select fire) which used 20 and 30 rnd mags.....

The thing about Bollywood movies is the ultra-realism.

Yep, I agree. It's common knowledge that a 4 pronged grappling hook works much better than a boat anchor. That right there blew all credibility off the charts...
