Question for you guys. Have the 2 1/4" that I want to carry in the hills so still want ability to shoot single action for longer shots. I can still bob the hammer then(carefully) cock it single action. If not happy I could install new hammer correct? I have stripped it down several times so know how everything works(I think).

This might answer your question.

SP101 Hammers are a factory installed part. So yes you could restore it,,, but a trip to Ruger would probably be required.

Had my SP-101, SA/DA, 2-1/4", .357 Mag for about two years before I had my friendly Gunsmith do a 'trigger job' and 'bob' the hammer. Should have had it done sooner! Can still shoot it single action easily, if I want to (something you CAN'T do with a SP-101 DAO) and have no concerns about the spur hanging up on clothing, etc. when carrying CC. Might just be me, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Midway USA has Larry bobbing the hammer on a Smith, just common sense really but he does a good job. Thanks gobe, goin to do it tomorrow.
