Has Ruger ever made a Single Ten revolver? If so, are they as good as the ss? I assume they are. I am thinking about getting one and from what I have seen the little guns are quite accurate. I have a Hunter semi-auto that is a tack driver. I have never seen a blue Single Ten but was wondering if Ruger ever made a blue one?

There are two blue models and two SS models. I bought a 5.5 SS single ten when they first came out and did not care for it.

I sold it.

When the blues came out, I bought a blue 4 5/8" and took off the HiViz sights and put standard sights on it. It is the best shooting Single I have had and the only handgun I own that will shoot the Aguila 60 grain bullets without tumbling. I am very pleased with the 4 ounce lighter weight and the better balance that comes from the aluminum grip frame. I MUCH prefer it to the stainless one I had.

We have an exclusive run of 4-5/8" blue Single 10's. They have been very good sellers for us. Here are the details:

Call me old school or whatever what's the deal with the fibre optic sights. I am a older shooter with bad eyes but the fibre optic's don't work good for me in normal shooting light I get a starburst effect when I try to use them. The only time they work for me is in very lowlight like about 5 minutes before dark then they don't starburst on my eyes. I can take regular black sights and shoot fine all day long. With the fibre optics they almost take the target out when used. If I bought a single 10 with the fibre optics I would have to buy a set of sights before I ever used it. Why not make them a option where you could get them either way

I had my LGS order me one of the blue single 10's. It had a severe issue with binding; it would lock-up to the point that dis-assembly was required to make it turn again. The LGS got me one of the stainless models instead. Very happy with the stainless version- excellent timing, lock-up & action was smooth. I'm sure my experience was the exception not the rule- a bad apple every now & then can be expected.

Those of you that have one, please tell us about the rear sight. I presume it has a round notch to match the front sight and fully adjustable. A rear facing flat surface is apparent but does it have other advantages?
Thx,

I would think a sharpie would work pretty easy or a small piece of electrical tape. then you could still use it 5 minutes before dark. just a thought not criticize your dislike for them.

The rear sight is a square notch like a normal rear sight, but with a bright dot on either side. I did not like it and got rid of it.

My experience with the sights is exactly what Tommy Kelly described. All I could see was the bright dots, and while if I was doing snap shooting at pie plates they would be fine, the dots are not precise enough for squirrel head shooting. You need nice square black sights for that, and have that now.

Got to handle my first 'Model Single 10' today at the KGS. Since it didn't come w/black grips I was hoping it didn't have an internal lock.

But when I asked the clerk he said no it doesn't, no Rugers come with internal locks, I knew I was in trouble. So I had to tell him that Rugers with black grips including New Vaqueros and Vaquero 44 Spls did, and to check the boxes of one for the keys which he did. The NM Single Six box he checked had keys alright but also the pad lock (which surprised me). The I asked him to check the Single 10 box and was happy to find that it didn't include keys.

I also thought it was interesting that the Single 10 is stamped only 'Model Single 10' since there was no OM single 10. Same logic as stamping the 44Spls Vaquero instead of New Vaquero.
