I thought some members might find this interesting. Back in the day, way back actually when you could get your Blackhawk re-blued for $12.00 and buy a pair of new grips for $5.00.

$12 way back in 67 = $118 today. Still not a bad price for a factory reblue.

1967 hourly might have been $1.25, or nearly 10 hours pay to get a we-blue.

In 2026 my trade would be worth 40+ dollars an hour. Or 2.5 hours pay to get reblued.

I try to keep things in perspective, but it is hard sometimes, as some of todays cost don't work this way.

Just for the sake of conversation, a member recently posted his Blackhawk that Ruger had just re-blued, cost was $175.00. The $112.00 recently mentioned is the bluing charge only they also charge labor to disassemble and reassemble. By todays standard it's still probably more than competitive. If I was going to have one re-blued it would go to Ruger!

It is interesting that the Blackhawk frame still shows it as being a flattop.
Also, the parts explosion for the Super Blackhawk is actually prototype Super Blackhawk serial number 15528 which currently sits in a friends collection.
