BlackHawk or Bisley

I am interested in a Ruger 44 Special, preferably a Bisley. Is the 44 Special Blackhawk on a larger frame than the 44 Special Bisley? I don't want the 44 Mag revolver. It seems I read somewhere the Bisley is on the old 357 smaller) frame. If so will the smaller frame Bisley hold up as well as the Blackhawk? Thanks to all who answer. Ruger On!

Buy what you like!! Bisley's according to many find more comfort under heavy recoil.
With the 44 special that will not be an issue. Personally I find little difference Recoil is Recoil imo.

Both of the recent 44 Special offerings are on the mid-sized frame. Identical other than the gripframe, trigger and hammer.

Hold both if you can. I like the Bisley. It feels like I get more of my hand on there solidly.

Have both here, an original Lipsey's Flattop Blackhawk from when they first came out & a new Bisley from last month.

Same frame sizes, as noted, smaller than the .44 Mag Blackhawk.

Same sights, same barrel lengths, both fit the same leather.

Both will hold up to any sane .44 Special load quite well.

I did note less perceived recoil with the Bisley in heavy loads.

Finish on the Bisley is not as well polished, stainless hammer & trigger now.

Add Info: Should probably clarify that- All blued single-action models have stainless hammer & trigger now, and the last two new blued Ruger single-actions here have had a lesser degree of polish under the bluing.

There isn't much middle ground on Bisley frames. It is either love em or hate em. You need to try both and see what works for you. There are few things more personal than handguns so get whatyou like best.

Ideally you could shoot both. There is a difference for me, but people and peoples hands are different. For me the Bisley is less than a plow handle grip which is less than a parrot head grip with the same exact round, which for me is 45LC.

Johnny P, of course only you can decide based on how it feels in your hand(s) and how it shoots for you. I rarely buy new guns, however I bought a 44 Special Bisley Flat Top 4 5/8" last year. It looked to me like a nice packing piece. It has become one of my favorite handguns ever and I bought my first of many in 1975. It is the most comfortable revolver I have ever shot, especially as I mostly shoot one handed for recreational shooting. Every time I use it, (and I can shoot in my yard), I think about selling some other handguns. Of course I come to my senses, but it is so good that I think I could be happy with it as my only single action.

I do not know how you can possibly live without one of each. THEN when you realize the REAL difference you'll save some shekels and trade 'em both off for a new COLT NEW FRONTIER 44SPL, the sleekness and lightness of which will amaze you ALL of your remaining days.
