A question, for Old Model Blackhawks and Single Sixes, how many barrel types are there and what years of manufacture apply to them? An example; Pre-Logo, Logo, Pre-Warning. I've heard these phrases referenced but am trying to understand their application. Thanks for the assistance.

Books are your best friend when it comes to these and many other questions. I would recommend as a starting point Dougans "Ruger Pistols and Revolvers, the Vintage Years 1949-1973" From there the sky is the limit on what other books to grab. As soon as I think I'm good another one pops up that I need.

The Ruger Reference published by Red Eagle News Exchange gives all the info as well, clear up into the New Models.

I'm retired and on a fixed income. I've bought books recently (latest was "Concorde" by Mike Bannister - $20.00). I'm not that much in need of a book (understanding it is a very good one) on that series of Ruger pistols and revolvers.

The book in question is one of the ones that if a person is limited in income,, or really wants a book that has a huge amount of great info inside it,, it'd be priceless.
But if your NEED isn't concerning a good education,, then by all means,, pass on it.
Personally,, as far as I know,, I have every printed book on Rugers that I'm aware of. I have a few book cases full of just Ruger books! To me they are worth MUCH more than their initial expense. I guess it's in a person's priorities!

yes, and I agree, but the question from the OP, as to the info he seeks is IN THE BOOKS , but just which one?? written when??, let alone "updated, corrected" by some such as Chad does with the 'RENE' and some of these questions you cannot just google search cause they do not pick up on the 'variations' noted by the various authors,,,and I know of NO ONE that can keep that much or any large amount of some of this info "in their heads", its not a job one does day after day and can learn and use it in a daily routine,,,,,,, after all to me , it is now these days "just a hobby"........and if I could answer the OP s question, I'd have one hell of a time trying to type it all down, put it in print, in a forum "post/reply"......yikes, scary thought ,,,hell I still have and use a 'flip phone'
If you buy the book now for $65, this time next year you will still have it and be enjoying it and will have forgotten the $65. 
Oh my, books. I went out on my own when I was 19, 1964, and was married the same year. I quickly developed a keen interest in guns and bought magazines every week. We lived in one house for 23 years and then we moved into a new one. I had several friends who helped us move and my brother in law just couldn't get over how many boxes of gun magazines I had. About 20 years later I went on a binge and threw a lot of them away. I sorted the ones out that did not have an article about a gun that I liked. I still have about 5 boxes left. Some day they will be gone. It's funny how for years I would remember a certain article and would dig threw the boxes until I found the magazine that it was in. I don't do that much anymore.
