I have a question about a 3 screw 41 mag. I recently purchased.
On the front of the cylinder there is the letter S stamped in the metal,
is this normal for the old ruger's and if it is what does it mean?
Thanks Bill

If it is on the cylinder then it's a proof mark. It shows that that gun has been fired at the factory with a larger then normal load. when ruger started doing that they used a small size "S". Sometime in the 60s they started using a some what larger "S". Then later on they started stamping the cylinders at the front. I'm not sure when this happen.

Thanks for the info and the welcome. Been hanging around for sometime and finally joined after getting the 41 mag.
It is a 1966 production gun and I love to shoot it more than my 44 mag. SBH.
It just hard to find a good bullet mold to cast for the gun.
Thanks Bill

It may be too late to get one of these;

But it would be worth your time to check. It was "Reverse Engineered" from an original H&G #258 and MiHec makes a beautiful mold. He often has a couple extra's on these larger Group Buys.

I don't think he's started cutting these yet, but should be real soon. I don't think it's too late.

Still open, however, I am expecting PM from Miha any day to close GB, he received cutter recently.

Thanks again to all.
I have a 200 gr. swc( h&g 68) for my kimber 45 auto that Mihec made and it's a great mold, I will check on this for sure.
Picked up a lee 240 gr. swc on e-bay last night for $6.50, just something to play around with until I can get something better.
