A friend has one of those nice stainless new model Bisley's in 45ACP/45LC. There's a very sharp edge at the top of the grip frame just below the hammer.

Not sure if the grip frame wasn't properly finished there or if it's just that the factory grips fit so poorly. Regardless, when you fire it .... you're likely to get your thumb cut.

Not being a single action guy myself ..... can someone tell me if this is or was a common problem? Do most send the gun back to Ruger to round down that edge or just ask for better fitting grips?

pic?

guess thats what happens when you get 1000000 orders in the first quarter.

probably a QC overlook.

without seeing it and it being stainless I would probably go at it myself. but if your not comfortable with files or it looks dificult I would contact ruger

When I received my new Bisley 45 stainless, the edge of the hammer spur was real sharp, as well as the ejector rod housing slot. I took some 1500 grit sandpaper and "knocked" the edge off of those areas ever so slightly, so that they weren't like a razor blade.

Since it is a stainless gun you can just take some fine emery and knock off the high spot(s). I have an SP101 that had a few spots that needed touching up. Not worth sending back IMHO.
