Is this a collectable pistol? I know I need Chad's RENE, and I promise to subscribe, honest.
If this is Ser# 17-02229 it's a MKI, right, and it had the wooden box, Repro salt cod? With BR's signature and 1 of 5000, I am always heard if it is sold originally as a collectable / limited edition; don't expect it to really be collectable. Hold true here? So what's it work in like new condition? Looks never fired.

IT would not be a MKI. It would be a RUGER STANDARD 22LR PISTOL with standard fixed sights and a 4 3/4" BBL.
The MKI pistols were all adjustable sighted target pistols, and when we say all, it was the entire run of 'em until the MKII pistols were introduced.
I always had a yen for one like you have there. I think it was the first RUGER 22 automatic pistol made from Stainless Steel if memory serves.

Thanks Will, You are right, I have not seen it, just called by a buddy with the alert it may be for sale and doing some homework.
Also found out the wood box is cracked and outer box worn from handling he says.
Thinking of what I might want to offer at this point. But again, don't really 'need' it either, LOL.

I sold a consecutive pair N.I.B. at the last gun show for 1K. I don't think $500.00 is to much for a crisp NIB example.
They are one of the sharpest looking auto pistols too.

I agree with what Wil and T.A. said, but if it is "used" and any "issues" no more than $400-450 tops............

Thanks for the info, I am hoping to meet up with the owner and visit it today. If I can get it for $400 or less it will join the other shooters in the safe.

Is this the Mark II with the white grips and the William Ruger signature on the top? Just curious as a guy has one listed here for $350 - not sure of the value but I'm interested in a Mark II model - but to shoot - not collect. I don't like the white grips much...

No, the one he is talking about was the "last" of the MKI types. The MKII you are talking about was done for the NRA Endowment fund.

I sold several of the 1 of 5000, was never able to get more than $400 for NIB, even low 3 digit numbers.
