No not THAT bhp! Calm down!

My Hi Power hasn’t seen the light of day for a long time. Several years ago I spent a ton of money on her courtesy of Power Custom and then she sat in the safe. A few years back I put some VZ grips on but they just didn’t do it for me. I had finger groove Hogue and Pachys on but I don’t care for them. Finally found a set of regular Pachys and they came yesterday. Put them on this morning and I’m very happy with the look and feel. I like 80s style and Pachmayr shouts 80s. Need to get her to the range soon.

Awesome that you found a set of grips you like. The VZ grips can be nice but you’re right, the grips now definitely look like they are from the 80’s

What did you have Power Customs do to the pistol?

I misspoke ....I sent this to Cylinder & Slide. Have no idea why I said Power Custom :oops::rolleyes:. I forget what they called the package (It was a very long time ago) but they did a complete trigger/hammer job, added a wide combat trigger, commander style hammer, removed the magazine disconnect, beveled mag well, added Tijicon sights, extended mag release, all internal components were replaced. I find BHPs difficult to work on, the tolerances are so tight. I bought this BHP MKIII 40S&W used for a fair price. I put the same amount into the C&S work as paid for the pistol.

Oh I bet that is sweet! Triggers can either make or break a gun. And good triggers are worth the price.

The stock trigger was terrible....very narrow and odd feeling. The mag disconnect made it heavier than it needed to be. The C&S enhancements were well worth it. It handled completely different, in a good way.

I haven't done much to this one except remove the mag disconnect and add night sights. The holster is from HBE Leatherworks.

Finally found a set of regular Pachys and they came yesterday. Put them on this morning and I'm very happy with the look and feel.

Exact same I have on mine. They are great!

Sweet! I wouldn't mind having one. I have shot the new Springfield version and I like it but it's hard to beat the original.

:love: My P-35 clone went through Cylinder & Slide for a moderate tune up. :love:
It came out everything one could ask of a SA semi-auto. I quit carrying it when the P95's came out.
The reason I have the P-35 goes back to WW2. Dad was a part of the invasion and campaign to take North Africa. Somewhere along the line, he scrounged a bunch of P-35 and Luger parts from a wrecked German supply truck and put together several of each. Most were sold/traded but he kept one P-35 and extra parts. Their next landing was Sicily followed by Anzio where things got real tough. Dad was a radioman for an artillery unit and was often sent forward to establish spotter positions which were usually 'contested' by the Germans trying to utilize the same observation points. He maintained the 9mm P-35 was 'better' than other options but didn't elaborate. Immediately after the fall of Europe, his unit was tagged to participate in the proposed invasion of Japan mainland. Dad had his P-35, a spare barrel, 10-12 magazines, a bunch of small parts, and in his words 'some ammunition'. Fortunately, this wasn't needed.

Gotta love a BHP!
I found some wooden grips online from Turkey. Put them on my NIB BHP. Replaced hammer (with a C&S skeletonized one), as it was irritating the web of my hand, but not so bad as getting the "bite". Original sear still worked. No, I did nothing about the trigger as it works just fine for me, as does the mousetrap mags which I prefer. I liked a BHP so much I bought another used one, a 'C' model, at a ridiculous price after they were discontinued. The plastic/rubber? grips are from my new BHP. I like the shape of them, just wish they were made from a different material.

That’s what I’ve done with my Colt SAA. The original grips are in perfect condition and reside in my safe since they’re so valuable. I have an aftermarket set on the gun so I don’t have to worry about wear and tear.
