I picked enough huckleberries until my back gave completely out. Some of them were hanging on the bushes just like clusters of grapes. Here's a picture of a penny that shows the size of a lot of the berries

It still takes a lot of berries to fill a bucket.

Since this is a gun forum, you can see I always carry my Fan Club 44 Special in case I run into a bear or some other picker that thinks they are his berries.

Coming home, I stopped long enough to take a picture of another Idaho sunset.

While Dick & I go on squirrel safaris, in order to shoot straight you have to chew sunflower seeds. So I planted some by mistake while I was planting my sorry garden.

I must have chewed some and planted them by my tomato plants as well. If I was doing it on purpose, I would have planted it so it wouldn't hit the eaves of my garage. I've got my Sunday bibs on for the picture.

So there you go guys & gals. That's what I've been doing lately. What have you all been doing?

ive been working... boring... hope to have some adventures to share soon tho since deer season is approaching.. been too blasted hot here in missisweaty to do much.

love your posts man!

Good to see you getting out while Dick is playing life guard at his indoor pool . You must be watering those sunflowers with some organic liquid nitrogen product ! They look great ! Nice shuck you got there, also. Love the sunset picture! Callshot, you rock !

Those are big berries! Sunflowers ain't bad either. Finally got some relief from the heat here and looks like it'll last all week. Gonna have to drag out my calls and go after a coyote or two to sharpen up for deer later.

I looked at that bucket full of huckleberries & thought; "There's a lot of shakes in that bucket!" I wish I could be out there helping ya pick & eat them things!

I used to live in Moscow, ID and we'd do the "trifecta of fun": catch a bucket of Eastern Brookies (considered a pest when I lived there) and a few rainbows and bull trout, catch a bucket of crawdads (no real Idahoan eats them), and pick a bucket or two of wild berries: huckleberries, native and Settler blackberries, salmon berries, wild raspberries, and thimbleberries. Make cobblers with the berries, boil the crawdads with sweet corn, and fry up the troutlets. A DECENT meal! (Usually pop a few ground squirrels on the way back to the truck with my kit gun, too). A nice part of the world.

I live so close to the ID/WY border that I actually should call those Idaho Sunsets!

You're having way too much fun! :D
