Never get tired of looking at those Bearcats.  Do you have the shipping dates on those three guns?

heck, we had ten (10) of them over the years, and 8 were 3 digit numbers, sold or traded ALL of them off, most went out west...........
last one was here on the Forum not too long ago,saw 2 more at the last couple of shows and "passed" on both of them...........had a GOOD friend, and dealer over in PA, Ray Ciampolo, may he rest in peace, he got Laura most of them when they first came out, and we paid like $330 per gun......last one cost us $700 and Laura said "way too much"....NO MORE !!! poof, GONE !!! 8)
the REAL question is ( should be) just "how many are still out there as "convertibles"" as they were recalled and MANY ( how many? ) were sent back and the 'spare ,magnum cylinder taken away???????
(that was a POOR 'return' for $40.....) duh........

Of the 1,000 made, it has been said that somewhere around 300 of the Mag. cylinders were returned.
To verify whether it was shipped as convertible or not, all you need is a ship date. Convertibles were shipped in 1993 or 1994 only, no LR only guns during that time frame.

Interesting thread. I too love them B-Cats.

Road ranger is your box and cylinder from 93-00598 or 93-01598?

Chet, what's the highest convertible Ser. # know.

According to Ruger's recall letter, it was 93-01944.
I imagine some dealer had 93-00598 and when the recall letter came out he got scared to death about selling the Mag. cylinder with it.....so didn't.

All three were shipped in Dec. '93.

FWIW, s/n 93-00100 wasn't shipped until Dec. '98 and it was a single cylinder gun.

Yeah...funny company that Ruger. Ruger started serial numbering at 93-00500 and shipped those first convertibles, approximately 1,000 guns from 93-00500 to 93-01944. Then the Mag. cylinders were recalled and the Bearcat went on a 3-year production hiatus.
When reintroduced in 1996 with only the LR cylinder, the New Bearcat now had a "RUGER NEW BEARCAT" rollmark on the cylinder frame and different loading gate. Ruger didn't manufacture serial numbers 93-00001 through 93-00499 until two years later in 1998.

Street, one more interesting piece of trivia.........

My three examples of Ruger's dual cylindered New Model Bearcats have three different sets of grip medallions. One gun sports the early "Light Stamped" BC-4 medallion, one gun was fitted with later issue "Heavy Stamped" Old Model Bearcat medallions and one gun was fitted with "New Bearcat" medallions.

Never a dull moment for a Ruger Collector...... :D
