This particular Bearcat has been 'for sale' now for quite a while. http://www.gunsinternational.com/RUGER-BEARCAT-22-LR-ALLOY-FRAME.cfm?gun_id=100136144
How difficult is it to refinish the old frames? I was thinking of calling him and making an offer that was a bit less than he is asking.

factory won't do it, and I have yet to find anyone who has been able to, MUST be someone out there you'd think, but the couple we tried years ago, came back ANYTHING BUT "black",,,,,,,, pure "BS"
the bearcat frame is the entire cylinder & grip frame, all ONE piece..........besides, the barrel is steel and there are "FEW" if any folks that will attempt to "pull" the barrel as they ( frame) can and will 'crack (break) thats why the factory will NOT refinish them..................

Too much rust. Stocks over tightened and misshaped. What are the black streaks on the cylinder frame? With the out side looking so bad what can the lock work be like? Save your money. There are better guns to rescue out there. JMHO mind you. k Calthrop

Offered him $175.00. He wrote back that he couldn't sell it for that as he would lose $$. Said he had more than that in it. I guess someone will eventually buy it, but is won't be me.

Go to this website: http://www.gunsamerica.com/Search.htm?ltid-all=1&t=Bearcat&as=365&mn=0&mx=0&ffl=&ca=&co=&f=&sort=-DisplayPrice&numberperpage=250&cid=&lid=&dn=&ns=0&zipcode=&distance=0&limittostate=&

There are Bearcats in much better condition, for an additional $15 over what this guy wants for his beat up gun.

Fox Mike,
He did not even make you a counter offer? It's not like the thing can be boiled and served with a sauce. I guess if you leave it on the hook some fish is going to bite. k Caltrop.

If that rusty Bearcat was $100, i might think about it if I saw it on a gunshow table.
$310 + shipping + transfer fees = ridiculous

Good for you. Those sort of responses aren't worth even a sarcastic laugh. They act like it's YOUR problem that THEY paid too much for their junk.

(Not to mention he's gonna charge an addt'l $25 for shipping PLUS ANOTHER $25 for "FFL-Fee"............I predict you'll be happy you passed on this one.)

Did he reply? I like the poster above who suggest surfing the gunshow tables. Find an old beater, duracote it and keep it as a true kit gun

Nope! This is the entire reply; "Sorry Frank I would lose lots of $$ at $175 since I have more then $175 in it. Good Luck"

As to this

Why ask us?.....Offer him $900. Geez... pampers are 3.99 in aisle #4.
all I can suggest is that you return to your place beneath the bridge. Your trolling is beginning to become a wee bit more than annoying

Good decision, it's not your fault he's got too much in it (if that's even true). In any case he'll be keeping it and lose all his $$. Which is worse?
