I have one that "looks" correct but is marked USM4 CASE and the scabbard is marked USM8. What is this one for or what period is it from? EDIT: Oops....I see now, I bet this one is for the M1 Carbine.

Only difference is the A1 has the belt hooks. The M8/M8A1 scabbard works for M4 (carbine), M5 (Garand), M6 (M14) and M7 (M16) bayonets.
