Base Pin Latch

Have a new Talo 44 Blackhawk and I noticed that the base pin latch is inconsistent in returning to a locked position. When I look at it the spring is slightly visible. I disassembled the latch and it seems to be OK. However the base pin latch nut extends about 1/32" past the frame, thus exposing the spring.
My question:
Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal. If you don't see the spring it means the latch is not seated properly in the grove of the base pin.

I have a Single Six and a Blackhawk. On both of them, when the latch doesn't seat all of the way, I usually just need to turn the pin a little without moving in forward or backward. A little twist and you will hear the latch seat.
