I'm in need of a replacement barrel for an Old Model Blackhawk in .41 Mag. I found one on Numrich Arms but the description says "studded" barrel. What's the difference between a non-studded and studded barrel and where is the stud and what does it do?

This is correct. It's fairly uncommon now days to see one but that doesn't mean it's rare. If you use the studded barrel make sure you can find or have the special nut required to hold the ERH on.

The stud is internally threaded and welded to the barrel. Takes a different screw than a non-studded version. The ERH fits over the stud, and this is supposed to resist the recoil on the attachment point since the stud takes the recoil rather than the tiny screw threads. All the screw does is hold the ERH to the stud. :)
