Wow. This same topic is discussed so many times, and every time, somebody expresses that they just don't feel the need to be armed when BBQing, or otherwise just don't get it.
As Pal Val said...it's jewelry that's worn at an event. It's ceremonial.
I escort many Veterans funerals, and I often wear a Bowie knife that is well adorned. No, I don't ever expect to have to use it at a funeral. It is also just ceremonial jewelry.
Go to a parade where there are pipers. They've always got a cute little knife stuck in their sock. Don't expect they need it in a parade, either, but it's a ceremonial part of their outfit.
Even the American Legion, the VFW, or countless other Color Guards carry rifles in parades. Don't expect they'd ever need them either. It's part of America. It's what we do. I can't imagine this concept passed up the frigid Northern States.
And although I have plenty of guns to wear at a BBQ, I do not have a BBQ gun. I would love to have one. A wonderfully engraved BBQ gun and rig to do it justice is at the top of my wish list. But Northerners don't BBQ, so I'd still have nowhere to wear it.
Even us guys from up North could get chicks if we went to the neighborhood block party with our BBQ guns, and dressed to the nines. :mrgreen:
