Went with my group to Front Sight this past week and took the 4 day defensive handgun class again. The guy that got me started going has attended something like 7 times. All I can say is this is the most disciplined training I've ever taken....... did not do as well as I wanted on the final test but still did pretty good... one miss on the shooting part... but I blew the malfunction test... especially the brass low part.
The reasons I go to this class... well, someone here on this forum once said that if you are going to carry a gun you need to not only be trained but keep your training up... and this rang true to me... on top of that one of the guys I go with told me just before I went the first time that it was the best handgun training he had ever had... and he is a retired Marine Drill Instructor. This year we had a new guy with us and he was in the same place on day 3 that I was last year, totally disgusted with himself and feeling he just could not get it... and he is a retired LEO that spent years on the SWAT team....
If you look into Front Sight, don't get put off by the over the top promotion of their planned expansion.... Also, don't get thrown off by the cost of the classes... you can usually find someone who is a life member who will sponsor you for the basic classes for free.
Now getting there is almost always an adventure in itself .... I was to fly out of Greenville at 6:00 in the a.m. and had 37 minutes to make my next flight in Detroit to Las Vegas.... at 3:00 that morning Delta texted me saying my 1st flight would be delayed until 7:10..... So, I went on line and re-booked through Atlanta then to Salt Lake City and then to Las Vegas.... I was originally booked for 1st class... and got the same to Salt Lake City.... From Atlanta I got on an Airbus 300.... you get your own cubicle with fully reclining lounge chair on one of these in 1st class.... now the flight from Salt lake City to Las Vegas... was the standard packed in like sardines in coach flight....
