I had to have one of those unpleasant procedures done today, and was kept waiting for an unusually long time in the wasting room. Now there are a bunch of old folks who visit there also, and one group caught my attention especially. Each one had a walker, most those aluminum frames things with tennis balls on the back legs. Some had the more deluxe walker I've come to know as a "Rolator." Then a man come in with a new style with flat bar side panels and larger diameter, aluminum spoked wheels. His was a walker new to the others and was sort of the center of attention, as the others quizzed him about its features, and whether Medicare paid any on it or not.

Then one older gent asked if it had a parking brake. "No," replied the old gent, "but these" indication the hand levers on each handlebar, "hold you steady if you've got the grip."

The questioner held out both hands and flexed them to indicate he still had a good grip. "My grip's pretty good. I milked cows for forty two years."
