Are GP100 ejector stars no longer pinned?

If I'm wrong I will apologize. I was reading the new American Rifleman review of the GP100 Match Champion and for the life of me, cannot see the two locator pins that align the ejector star, as there are on my 2000 vintage GP100. I guess I missed a memo. Why and when the change when things were fine (in my book)? MIM hammers and triggers.... now I don't see locator pins. Hmmm. I feel the same way I did in 1981 or so when Smith stopped pinning their barrels as an unnecessary step (that had worked well for several generations). I guess testing showed that any change is fine and socially acceptable.
I know, I know. I'm an old-ways fella. Still miss my Ruger Standard .22 pistol..... Don

My two year old GP-100 does not have alignment pins either but the shaft the star is on has a flat that matches the shape of the hole in the cylinder and prevents it from rotating. It accomplishes the same thing.

The changes you regret are to keep the manufacturing cost at a reasonable and saleable level. Sure you could have all of the old-fashion hand fitting, pinned and recessed cylinders, etc., etc. but would you be willing to pay what the manufacturer would have to charge? Yes the old ways worked but many were necessary because of the machining accuracy and steel quality at the time. Why keep them when they contribute nothing to durability or accuracy?

The ejector star is cut in such a way as to seat flat without rotating. No need for pins anymore. Not as likely to get messed up with debris either. :D

I'll hold on to my old version really tight then (grin). Besides having pins and cast trigger and hammer, it has the tightest lock up of any Ruger revolver I've ever had the pleasure of owning. I'm getting old.......The holster is a removable flap pancake style I made for it back when I was still able to hand stitch. Don

Just now saw your post PriseDeFer. Yes it's....different. It was one of my first. The flap removes and it is open top, or can be worn as you see, cross draw or strong side. Don
