I just posted in 2 threads in the Lounge, within the last 45 minutes and both posts disappeared.
Kind of annoying to type for 10 minutes or so and have it disappear completely.

A search of my posts turned up NADA.

Happened to me plenty of times...but mods probably removed mine because they offended some of the more sensitive of our members.

Possibly. Still waiting on the vote for you.

Myron I don't see anything in the logs, so I don't think it was deleted.

Sometimes the site crashes while I am still composing... I figure it is a blown bs fuse.

cas,

"Myron I don't see anything in the logs, so I don't think it was deleted."

What logs are you referring to ?

My posts disappeared when i hit the 'submit' button, so I'm sure they were not removed by a moderator or anyone.

I did a search of posts listed under my profile, and NADA there either.

edit: I don't know if the "your message has been posted successfully" thingy came up or not.

The Moderator logs. When things get done in the moderator control panal, for example things deleted or moved etc, the forum software automatically keeps a record of it. We can look at it and see what was done and by whom. It doesn't show any threads of yours being deleted.

Compose your posts in a Notebook window, and then copy and paste...

That way if the system glitches, you still have the post on your hard drive so you may try again...

Had it happen once. Wasn't a long post or meaningful so I didn't bother to repost when I noticed later. Figured it was just a glitch.

Another thing that happens is if you make a post and somebody else has posted in the mean time before you, then you will have to hit the submit button again. If you move on without hitting the submit button again your post will disappear. :D

This one will bite you. It looks like the exact page you just submitted but at the top the is the post that came in between when you started and finished. If you don't catch it and move on your post is doomed.

It's a lot easier to just copy your post to the clipboard, before hitting submit.

And if after repeated failed attempts to paste and post you wish to save your text, you'll open a word processor and save the file anyway...

Six of one, half dozen of the other...

;-)

AHA !

I think Jimbo and Dan in MI nailed it.
Someone had entered a post while I was typing mine, and I missed the second 'Submit' button.
This is the only forum that I visit that does it that way, so I just plain overlooked it.
