I loaded some rounds for my 44 mag and the first 5 of two loads were bad enough i dont want to waste the components firing the other 10 each. I tried using my hammer to get one of the bullets out but the gas check stayed behind. Anyway to get the boolit and gas check out in tact? Its a pretty heavy crimp...

Hi,

I've only had to pull maybe a handful of gas checked bullets. They all separated from the bullet when "hammered" out w/ an impact puller. A couple were in bottleneck cases, the rest in straight walled revolver cases. The revolver cases were no big deal: a pair of long needle nosed pliers captured the gc easily. W/ the bottleneck cases, I had to take a heavy wire w/ a bit of a hook on the end (a broken bicycle spoke works great) to kind of pull and turn the gc so the needle nosed pliers can grab it.

Sorry, don't have any great ideas on how to get the gc to come out w/ the bullet intact...

Tilt it and pull it with needle nosed pliers. That's the standard way of removing the GC from the case. It's buggered anyway and can't be reused.

Well i got most out but theres still eight with the gas check seated deep. May just load em in the gun amd blow em out!

May have compressed the load a little tho trying to pull em out!!

I've had to pull gas checked boolits before, and the check always stays in place. Are you using crimp-on checks?

If you do try to "shoot" the stuck checks from the cases, make sure they all actually exit the barrel.
