There is a 28 gauge Red Label available locally. Does anyone have any idea how many were produced (how rare they are) and the relative value of one? Any and all input is appreciated! Thanks!!

Good advice about the completed auctions. I don't know how many 28 gauge Red Labels were made but they made a lot and they were very popular. Whatever premium they may bring over the larger gauges, is not due to rarity but to desirability due to the fact that the 28 bore is the only one that handles like an upland shotgun should.

Looks like roughly 23,000 were produced going by the product history/serial ranges posted on the ruger website.

They do handle like a dream, I might add!

Speaking of Red Label shotguns, saw two at the recent Des Moines show in the 420-21xxx and 420-22xxx range that had a Newport address on the bottom of the receiver. I thought the first guns were marked Southport and if so, when was the change made??
