Rained yesterday morning slightly windy. My wife is nuts with whats being said on TV. In the last 40 years
we've gone thru dozens of hurricanes like this except for ANDREW and a few 100 mph wind storms.
Don't know why govt does this, makes em look stupid to do this to millions of people. The next time many won't go.
Many people will die because of this facade.Foggy today, windy on the beach, wind sailors are out as well as surfers
and the huge kite flyers what ever are out.
My two girls learned water sports in many of these. Don't get me wrong, I may be jaded because I live here.
Up north, there are snow days, down here there are wind and surf days. no school for my kids. Of course they had to make it up. To each his own,GOD BLESS AMERICA

Praying that you & yours make it through this one without any problems. Take care of yourself Lee.

Barrier islands are very susceptible to storm surge and high winds. The east coast of Florida is very lucky this time, the west coast not so much. Will have to see how bad things get. Right now the hurricane is just moving north off of Cuba and we are starting to get feeder bands, blowing rain and tornadoes possible. Being on the east coast I don't even expect to loose electric but you never know.

sliclee if the path of Irma was just a little different I think you might be singing a different tune there on Miami Beach. I had some relatives stay in the Keys during a storm and they said they would never do that again.

slicklee: I know exactly what you mean. Here in North Dakota the govt closes the interstate on half a dozen days a winter. I just chain up and drive slower in my 4x4 on secondary roads. You just have to adjust to the way it is. I'm sure with 40 years of weathering storms there isn't much you haven't dealt with. The news media are so over the top we can't believe much anymore.
