I am looking at a Ruger Single Seven Bird's head .327 Federal Magnum to possibly buy. One possible deal breaker is that I want to swap the stock hammer out with a Bisley hammer. 1. Where would I find a Bisley hammer to buy? 2. Would this be a drop in/change out job or would the Bisley hammer needed to be fitted by a gunsmith?

Finding a Single Six Bisley Hammer is going to be the challenge, Ruger no longer sells or supports them.
If you do find one, the "Bisley Hump" needs to be removed to fit into the standard gripframe, a gunsmith job,,, be it kitchen table or professional.

I do like the way you think, my SS7 327M's

You might check with Ron Power. He makes Bisley half cock hammers and I believe for the single six as well.

G2, those are nice looking Rugers. The Bird's head is just what I had in mind.

BigMuddy, I looked at the hammers Power Custom has to offer, but the the New Model SS doesn't have the 1/2 cock notch. I had thought about calling Power. BTW a black hammer/trigger combination would look good with the black grips.

I just got my Single Seven .327 and that is exactly what I was wanting to do to mine. If you come up with anything on finding a Bisley hammer that will fit the Single Seven Birdshead let me know.

Dixiejack,

You don't have to use the 1/2 cock notch on the Powers hammer, it will still work fine in your gun. Your gun will just have an extra click when you cock it. Or you can just hacksaw it off.

Or buy a 22LR Single Six Bisley from Mike here in the Classifieds and swap it out. That's my plan.

Well hell, bought mine too soon.
I like that fixed sight, 3 3/4.
I have a 7 1/2, cut to 6 1/2 to fit Holster rig, converted to full Bisley.
Also 4 5/8 with birdshead grip, and bisley hammer and trigger. Even have asked smith about cutting it to 3 3/4 and remaking the tip strap to fixed sight. This was when the first came out.

I talked to Randall Powers today and ordered a Bisley hammer/Vequaro trigger kit to swap out the factory hammer/trigger for the .327 Bird'shead.

You did tell him you have a Single 7, not a Vaquero, correct?

Yes. I told Randall I have a Single 7, Bird's Head. I just received the hammer/trigger kit with an optional Wolf 14 lb. hammer spring and Power modified transfer bar, but have not had a chance to do the install. I'm a little apprehensive because I've never taken down any of my Rugers that far. I got step by step instructions with the kit and I have been watching the video on the conversion.

Looks so simple even a caveman can do it, but I don't know any cavemen. :)

Please do update when you get it installed. I would love to put a half-cock Bisley hammer on my Single Seven.
