I was just writing out my anniversary card to sweetie. It's tomorrow, so if she doesn't shoot me before midnight it will be 19.

I know many of ya'll here have been married lots longer.
How about a different thread. How long did you know her before getting married?

I met my wife, I was a teacher's assistant in a university class and she was a student...This was in Bulgaria so I didn't break any laws. But it took 3 seconds to realize she was the one. We dated for 2 years and a couple months first though...I've said it before, but on our first date we had to bring a dictionary. :D

Anyone get married right away? Does stuff like that ever last?

I got to thinking about that question, the other day we wondered if our daughter would end up divorced. She commented it seems like the "new normal." I figured she would probably not get divorced, my only reasoning being both sets of her grandparents are not divorced. Not sure if that is solid reasoning or not...

:D First date on Jan 1, 1978. Got married on April 29, 1978. Would have gotton married earlier but I had to finish up tax season first. Best thing I ever did.

Happy Anniversary to you & your lovely bride Kevin.

My wife & I met in March of 2004 & were married October 9th of 2004 less than a week before my 39th birthday. First marriage for me, second for her. It is now 11 years & three kids later.

Howdy Kevin: You met me and my wife. There is a point that you say "self, I need a women" . I did and Judy was my find. She found me actually. It is a baseball story. I may have told you? Congrats on the anniversary. Many years to come.

Many congrats. my friend.

The direct answer to the question is, 5 1/2 years.
We were 16 and 17 when we met in 1970, and got married when we were 21 and 22, in '75.

Two sons, 3 (soon to be 4) grandsons, and two great young women I'm proud to call daughters (in law) later, we celebrated our 40th anniversary this past June.

I met my wife on a blind date...but...she was a blind date for a buddy of mine. Long story...suffice to say we hit it off better than the guy she was fixed up with.

I met my wife by the pool in 1972 one month later we were married. 41+ years 3 kids 1 grandson hope for more. Kevin wish you many more.

Thanks for all the good wishes, although she deserves more credit than I just for putting up with me.

And thanks for all the good stories. From high school sweethearts to getting hitched right away. That recent thread about how old everyone is, combined with many being married for years and years is probably the reason this is the best corner on the internet.

Congrats on the 19yrs...hope there are many more for y'all.

I met my wife in a fluke meeting in 1982. We were both 22, she was engaged and I was not even looking for a steady girlfriend. Somehow, we were married almost 2yrs later and after having seen each other nearly every day since meeting. It has been 32yrs, she has been a tremendous blessing to me...don't have words to describe it or the 2 great children we have.

Congrats on #19!
I've been happily married for 18 years. We've been married for almost 24 but 18 happily (not consecutively) ! (she doesn't think that's funny).

Met her in college. She was my little brother in my fraternity. Met in September of 1990. Started dating in November, she agreed to marry me on her birthday in March of 1991, and we were married in April of 1992. We have 2 beautiful, wonderful children (and one other one). (she doesn't think that's funny either). OK, 3 awesome kids.

I married out of my league and tell her everyday. She's put up with me this long I'm not going to let her get away. It would take too long to train another one and I'd have only half my stuff.

In 1965 I was dragged by a friend to a party that I had no interest in going to. I knew who was supposed to be there and it was all girls I had dated or who were dating friends of mine. But once at the party I saw one girl that I had never seen or met and I approached her just because she was the only one there that I didn't know. Eighteen months later we were married. Come this April will be 50 years, including five children and 10 grandchildren (and counting!). I think it was about our third date that the thought entered my head that "this is the one", and I consider going to that party the luckiest thing ever to happen to me.

I was 24 and had sworn off women for awhile. Tired of playing games. Gonna lie low for awhile, cool it. About a week later, I walked into a party that my cousin had insisted we go to and there she sat, simply the most drop dead sexy woman I had ever met. This was in early spring 1970. I looked her over and immediately concluded that she was wayyyy out of my league*. But mutual friends kept arranging group activities that always seemed to include her, increasingly we seemed to be naturally pairing off at these events and I finally asked her out. Married in July 1971. Next July will be 45 years now and I just cannot imagine life with anyone else.

*I was right, of course.
