I handled a couple of the new Ruger American pistols at SHOT. We also have our first shipment in and I've handled a couple of them. I think you will find the trigger quite nice,,,, and it's an easy gun to field strip.
Some folks have said the design of the rear of the frame causes some discomfort under recoil. I personally have not shot one yet,,, so I can not say.
I bought one. I am L. handed and two or three time out of 10 that I drew the gun I could not pull the trigger! Just me I guess as two other guys had no trouble. I did not keep it as I was looking for a defensive carry gun. Traded it in before I left the store on a 1911 (my favorite anyway). Just my grip I think. Your mileage may vary! Seemed well made and looked good. When the trigger worked it was OK for a striker fired piece.

And this is a ruger forum. Ruger just made an American pistol line
By saying American pistol it should have been connected with ruger American pistol.
That's like going to a glock forum and saying how is the 33 or 34 .
