Is it possible to purchace items directly (walk in) from a distribution center?

Not sure but why would you want to? I actually rather doubt it. Would they have registers and clerks etc. To help make the sale? Do you have a mem to Amazon Prime? Free two say shipping.
There's one a few miles away and I was wondering. There used to be nearby a Snap On tool whse that had a office and would sell to walk-ins. I think you're right about Amazon not selling in that way.

Walk-in buy, no, but you may be able to arrange a 'ship in place' pickup at the warehouse once you've bought (and paid for) it online.
I just looked too. It isn't free shipping because amazon isn't the seller here just the middle man. The part is sold by Echo. Not fair I know but if the part isn't available locally it still might be cheaper. Plus they don't have two day shipping on "non amazon" purchases.

I called and they don't have a 'ship in place' or other way to get it from a distr. center. It's a 3rd party order from a small engine company.
Kevin: You beat me to it. I found one place in the area that has it but for 15.XX dollars and tax here is 8.25%. I ordered two and it's about $25 with the shipping.

I guess I am partial to Amazon. One time I bought a bbq grill. And a part broke shortly after buying it. I actually called Amazon on a Sunday morning. I talked to some nice woman. She helped me and sent out a replacement part overnight. I guess at that time I became a customer for life.
We use Amazon Prime for music and movies and junk I could drive to the store for. But why? Amazon really does have competitive pricing on almost everything. Almost. Not all. Yet...

The major thing you REALLY need to learn is to look closely at where the
product is actually coming from. If it is "from" Amazon, you will doubtless
have good service. If it is from one of their vendors, it can take an extra
week to get to you. A day or two extra does not bother me, but a WEEK?
The other actual problem is their search engine. If you put in a nebulous
search string you get a plethora of "options", and that's reasonable. It's
when you put in a very specific search parameter and get twenty tons
of useless results, that I object to. When you search for "Moto G" (in quotes,
as an example) and get pages and pages of "results" that have no resemblance
to a Moto G, I'm sorry if it offends anyone, but that seriously annoys me.
Like I said, I spend WAY to much money there.
