Found a Blkhawk 357 for 340.00 like new he says. Privite seller, he wont give me or my FFL serial numbers, Wont take an FFL bus ck just mine wants payment on Paypal, wont send gun to FFL for inspection, wont give any personal info, doesnt have an FFL in calf is just going to send it priority mail, my FFL says that is a no no, no prior sales on site. What do you guys think Scam or give it a try

If he doesn't have an FFL it's a felony for him to send a handgun through the US Mail. This is way past scam, the whole thing sounds like entrapment to me, who would think that anyone would go ahead and send money with the lack of information involved here. I wouldn't have any further contact with the seller myself.

Well it is illegal for a private person to send a handgun through the USPS, but he could do UPS or FedEx. Tell him you will not use PayPal because of their policies against gun purchases and your account could be canceled. Tell them you could do USPS MO and then they would have to give you an address and a name. Ask them for some different angle pictures to make sure they actually have the gun and can do that. If they have paypal, ask if they have sold or bought anything on eBay. Then you could look at their rating on there. If you get an email address, google it and see if you find any postings from any other websites. Also google the screen name they use on the website you know about, you might find they use it on others.

Hope this helps a little, but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck.

That reeks of BS. Sure it's a great price, but only if it was legit, but everything screams otherwise.

I'd rather pay $100 more for a gun I knew was not a scam.

RUN!!!!!!!! Too many red flags on this one. Guy could just be an idiot too but I would not be willing to find out myself. Worst case it could be a set up. Him telling you he is going to ship priority without FFL could implicate you or your FFL in a crime as you knowingly agrred to receiving the gun this way.I have bought and sold a lot of things. I check everything out on the seller or buyer. Verify the FFl verify the addresses of all parties seller or buyer and the FFL. I go so far as typing the address into google maps and get view of their house and business. Paypal is a no go with any gun related sale. Some say I am too cautious but I have never been burned and want to keep it that way. Also filling out a form is all the contact I ever want to have with the ATF.

IMO it is not worth potential issues to save such a modest amount of money.

I GLADLY pay more to ensure my satisfaction with any transaction, not just guns. I mean at the grocery store, or for a car or its service, or anything.
I'm way not wealthy (way), but it IS only money.

I say pay more get more, even if the 'more' is only peace of mind.

Two choices here:

1) Run, don't walk, away - and never look back.
2) Contact local law enforcement and give them what info you have on this guy. This sort of deal we don't need.

A call to the closest BATFE office about his "deal" and attitude will MAYBE get them to looking at it. Let THEM help you. It sounds very bad.
I once listed a M1A stock on sleezbay, and a guy from japan wanted to buy it. I agreed IF he would comply with all the laws. He then tried to get me to ship it to him as a "toy gun part." Nope, I contacted the feds, and they investigated. Turned out, after a phone call from an ICE/ATF agent in Japan, we worked it out to ship it. It seems they were wanting to catch this guy, and I gave them the perfect opportunity. I got my sale price for the stock, AND a small reward for turning in a crook.

Is the e-mail address something like @blumail.org ? If it is, well ...

"419" Scam – sender domain blumail.org . 419 is the code given by the Nigerian government for a certain type of Scam.

If you've communicated with the seller by e-mail, or have their e-mail address, you can search for their address. For example "@comcast.net" , and perhaps gain some insight into the kind of provider it is.

I know these things because recently someone was listing an Airstream trailer for $5800 when the low Nadaguide bluebook price shows $10800. Needless to say I walked away.

Personally, I'd ask to see a copy of his BATFE ID. This sounds like a possible sting. Just the sort of thing any organization that would knowingly let firearms illegally cross the border would do.
