Good Evening Gentlemen,
I haven't been active on the forum in quite some time, but I assure you that my addiction to Rugers hasn't subsided in the least!

As the title states, I ordered an Alaskan in .44 Mag (to compliment my 9.5" SRH and 96/44) yesterday and naturally I'm looking for some way to tote it around when I'm not fondling it (get your mind out of the gutter, I'm still referring to the Alaskan!).

I've seen several recommendations for the Simply Rugged holsters and they seem pretty nice (as the name suggest.... simple and rugged). I also noticed the Triple K holster on Shopruger.com that looks decent for the money.

I'll primarily be carrying it on the deer lease, on the range and when I'm working in the woods. It won't be used much, if any, for concealed carry.

If you've had any experience with the Alaskan holsters (or just want to imply that you do since this is the internet!) I'd be happy to hear your comments and suggestions.

Thank you!

looks like you are one step ahead of me.............and ditto what WMB30 posted.

Earl @ Trailmaster Holsters has made some nice holsters for me. The pictured one is
for my Alaskan 44.

There are Alaskan holster choices in Rugers shop with ruger emblems on them.

I appreciate all of the feedback... I did check out the Ruger shop and liked the one that they carried, but I also like the idea of having a custom holster made. Those Guides Choice holsters and the Trailmaster holster above look more like what I'm looking for. RME, that's a great looking piece of leather that you have there!

I know the Simply Rugged has a strong following on the Sour Dough Pancake, but I just don't think that holster is for me. I'm sure it's great and carries well, but it is ugly as sin in my eyes. No, I'm not trying to make a fashion statement with my holster, but I would like something that's a bit more pleasing to the eye.

Thank you!

Thanks, Earl @ Trailmaster Holsters has made 5 custom holsters for me ( GP-100, 3" - 4" - 5" & 6" ) as well as for my Alaskan 44. I have found his holsters to be extremely tough while stylish and reasonably priced. I believe you would be happy with your choice. Here is a pic of all but 1 of my TM holsters.

I have a 7x chest rig for my Alaskan and I love it. It keeps the gun in place, and can be worn over heavy or light clothing. 7x custom leather. Google it. bhk

I've spoken with Earl and Trailmaster and that's definitely the route that I'm taking...... Great guy and awesome holsters!

If you are ever in the market for a holster for the Alaskan, you owe it to yourself to request a catalog from him or look at his work on Facebook.

This is pretty similar to the holster that I ordered. The main difference is that I added the removable straps like RME. I removed the bear and had my initials put on the front of the holster.... Now the wait until February!

Nice looking holster, Earl will do it right for you. He does have quite a waiting list but
you'll be pleased.
