Found an alaskan .480. Tried to search for some prices on here but didnt find too much

I have never thought about getting a super big bore as i dont need it... but bigger is better right??

I is a 6 shot with serial of 530-0xxx. Thats all i got but puts it from 2005-2007. The gun is in like new condition without box and papers and 17 rounds fired.

I have no clue as to the value of these gun becuase i have never checked them out.

The guy is asking $700 but he is selling a handful of other guns and i think i could get him down to around $650 especially if i try and buy a shotgun from him too.

Some guidance on that price would be helpful becuase i know these guns dont last long once being put up for sale.

Thanks again.

nah....just give the guys address and I`ll take it off his hands.

HAHAHA!!! you need to buy it, 700.00 is a steal.

on Gunbroker there going around 800.00 to 1200.00 when they come up for sell.

For it's purpose, bigger is better. More whack w/o more pressure. $700 is a very, very good price for what you describe.

Yep, you need to jump at $700 for an Alaskan .480. I was pleased with my brand new .44 Alaskan at $700....

Ask the guy if you can shoot it first. And if you have access to a chronograph, shoot it over the screens. You just might decide that you can live without.

I have a 7-1/2" SRH in 480 and when I shoot the 365 grainers or heavier to full velocity, recoil is heavy but manageable. The shorter versions would be, I would think, a little harder to manage.8)

I am assuming you hand load, because you will NOT find much .480 factory ammo or components except online . A big store like Cabelas will have the Hornady 325 JHP loads, but that is about it. They won't have brass, but will maybe have a few jacketed .475 bullets. You won't find any lead bullets except online.

I'm not trying to dissuade you - I think you should jump on the deal IF you reload. This also allows you to use a slightly faster powder to get better performance and less noise than the factory ammo, out of that shorty barrel.

I enjoy shooting mine, but OTH I am a bit of a recoil wuss due to advancing years and sore joints - I always wear a steel thumb brace and gel glove.

I shoot a 410gr LFN at 1200 fps out of mine. It's not bad. I can't do more than 30 or so at a time but it's livable.

I appreciate the help help... i called him so we will see what happens... and no i do not reload but will be buying the gun as an occasional shooter and to have fun with. I have to stay on look out for cheap deals to buy some ammo.

Sorry, but there is no such thing as cheap .480 factory ammo. The Hornady JHPs are closest, but they are still $1.25 a pop. The other brands are two to four times that.

I simply can NOT recommend any .480 gun for someone who doesn't intend to reload!

Yeah i know.about the prices... i do plan on reloading down the road but dont have the space now... it will be my side arm when i start.bear hunting so ill be able to get by on buying factory ammo.

Cheaper than dirt has boxes of 20 for 22.92 pr box in both 325 gr. and 400 gr. loadings.

I don't like Hornady brass for reloading.....unless they have changed something, but that is about as cheap as it gets in the .480.

I bought 1 box of each when I first got my 480 and while the 325 grain stuff ejected fine, the 400 grain stuff would not eject without difficulty.

Same thing when I started reloading Hornady brass, it won't stand the pressure, so I got some Starline brass and have had no problems with that.
